Historical Society of Penns Grove,Carneys Point & Oldmans This page focuses on the Historical Society of Penns Grove, Carneys Point and Oldmans and features items related to the Society.

The Society was started in 1999 when a small group decided that it was important to preserve the history of Penns Grove and to be able to share the history with others. Over the ensuing years the Society has expanded to encompass the towns of Carneys Point and Oldmans since the history and communities are intertwined.

From the Museum Committee: Plans are currently underway for the upcoming exhibit, “Gridiron Glory” which will open in September 2026. This exhibit will include all local football from midget to semi-pro. If you or a family member were involved in football on some level and have any photos, programs or other memorabilia you would like to share (or donate), please contact us before June 30th at [email protected]. If you have suggestions for future displays or would be interested in being involved with the museum committee, please let us know. We are also looking for individuals to serve as docents. This job is usually a commitment of two hours on a Sunday afternoon once a month. If you might be interested, let us know. Our Society is staffed completely by volunteers and with extra help we can better serve the community.

WE have copies of two photos we believe are Barber Avenue School students. We have some names which are listed with each photo but no other information. If anyone can help with dates, grades and/or names, it would be greatly appreciated. Some names are obviously nicknames and for the females some may be their married name so clarification for those would also be helpful.
