On October 6, 1905, Mabelle MacFarren of Penn Yan opened a dancing school. The music was provided by Eunice Frame, pictured here, who also played piano for various churches and dances in Penn Yan and later for silent movie theatres. The school was held in Hall at the Christian Men's Benevolent Association Hall. The class ended just after Christmas with a large reception held for 75 couples. Dancing schools were popular winter activities for young people in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
