Photographing Communities Impacted by COVID organized by Roger Hoover

So...my dear friend Roger Hoover, one of the most creative and talented people I know has a new project...Porch projects. Roger, whose small creative business has been all but closed due to Covid-19 felt the need to do something. So he picked up his camera, got on his bike and started to make his way through his Kent community, taking pictures and doing small interviews of his neighborhood as they cope with the isolation of what is our new norm right now, physical and social distancing. This is raw, it is real, it is sad, it hurts, it makes you smile, you cry...it is GOOD STUFF...we need this! I encourage you to please give to Roger's go fund me for this project to give him the dollars he needs to continue and expand. I'm going to give...I hope you will too...

A Message from The Peninsula Foundation:
Hello Everyone, It is with a sad heart that I tell you we are suspending operations at the G.A.R. Hall until the end of March due to concerns about Covid-19 Corona Virus. We take this measure with abundant caution and concern for our patrons, our staff and the beloved artist that grace our stage at the G.A.R. Hall. If you have purchased tickets for a show, you will be refunded within a week, hopefully we can find another date to re-schedule the cancelled shows soon. We cannot wait to welcome you all back to the G.A.R. Hall. Stay safe!
Sincerely,
Karen Walters

"I Want to Take You Higher" by Becky Boyd & the Groove Train!

Not only does Becky Boyd have a great voice, she obviously has some wicked stage moves! So here is what I know, when you ask musicians where they are going after a show, many are heading out to catch the last minutes of a Becky Boyd show. She is a musician's musician. Beloved by many, and yes, Raymond Arthur Flanagan says he wants to be Becky Boyd when he grows up! How is that for an endorsement!
Catch her at the Hall this Friday, October 4th. We will be helping her celebrate her birthday!

So so so sad they are closing. They were a large part of the landscape, history and spirit of Peninsula.
I thoroughly enjoyed tonights presentation with Curt Fields.
Is anyone able to fill me in on when Akron Peninsula Rd closed from near Camp Ledgewood to behind Terry Lumber?....Also, when did Terry Lumber move to it's current location as I remember as a kid, it being on the corner of Boston Mills and Riverview, across the street from Boston Mills Ski Resort....Thanks!
Congratulations on your recent arts and culture grant for the Voices in the Valley music program at G.A.R. Hall. Thanks for preserving local music in such a unique setting!
