Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame “Preserving West of the Pecos Rodeo History by Honoring Those Who Made It!”
Located in Pecos, Texas. and Oak Street.

The rich history of rodeo and the sport it has evolved into, along with the even richer history of Pecos, have provided the impetus for the creation of The Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame by a group of dedicated individuals striving to preserve that history, with the realization that history is more than events: It's the people. The Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame honors those who have reached the pinnacle of their sport and served as worthy ambassadors to further the sport and sportsmanship of rodeo with emphasis on those who have competed in The West of the Pecos Rodeo here in Pecos, Texas. The new and permanent home for the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame is located in the "Old T&P Depot" at Dot Stafford St. We encourage you to visit both The Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame and The West of the Pecos Museum the next time you are in Pecos, Texas. Not every rodeo legend can hang their hat here.

To be inducted, a nominee has to have competed at the West of the Pecos Rodeo and made a name for themselves in the rodeo world. Both, not one.

Every person on these walls came through Pecos first.

Rodeo trivia:

July 4, 1883. Trav Windham, Morg Livingston, and a group of area ranch hands gathered in Pecos to prove who could throw the best loop. No grandstand. No purse. Just cowboys who wanted an answer.

That day is recognized as the world's first rodeo. Today West of the Pecos stands as a PRCA Top 40 rodeo and a ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee, and the question still gets answered the same way it did in 1883. In the dirt.. History like this is what makes rodeo the sport we love today.

Buck Jackson Arena may have gotten a facelift in 2026, but we’ll never forget where we came from.

For years, that iconic brick backdrop was part of the view, part of the memories, and part of the history made inside these arena walls. As we continue to grow and look toward the future, we’re proud to carry those pieces of the past with us.

Some things may change, but the legacy never does. 🤠
