Today's featured artist is Joanne Luongo, whose paper mosaic, "Bain's Beach, Shetland" was accepted into the 'Scapes Juried Exhibition, ending on November 2nd.

She says:

"My work is an extension of my life. It is orderly and systematic, ritualistic and obsessive. My world is a place where the repetition of movement and form are the seeds that formulate every idea.

The elements in the exhibited work are a formal representation of the passage of time; an optical record of daily ritual and creation. The patterns in the piece are an accumulation of temporal moments: seconds into minutes, and minutes into hours. The visible manifestation of the small and painstaking task of tearing and assembling small bits into larger patterns keep my world orderly and rhythmic.

Long a fiber-based artist, I am influenced by traditional craft and adornment. The properties of the paper mosaic are similar in form to the traditional American quilt, which also shares a similar process, joining small individual parts into a whole."

The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative’s ‘Scapes Exhibition ends on November 2nd, but there’s still time to view the show. We are open to the public on Saturdays from 1:00-4:00pm and Sundays from 10:00am-4:00pm.

The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative gallery is open today from 10:00am to 4:00pm. We hope you’ll drop by and view some terrific works of art on our walls. The ‘Scapes Juried Exhibition will be ending next weekend on November 2nd.

Today we are featuring the photography of Greg Knisley who had two works accepted into the show: “Tungenset – Senja, Norway” and “Cowgirl on the Beach – Bandon, Oregon” “Cowgirl on the Beach” has been sold.

Gregg says:

“Tungenset is one of the most beautiful rest areas in the world on the island of Senja, Norway near the town of Ersfjord. When the wind is still, the tidal pools offer perfect reflections of the North Sea and jagged peaks of Okshornan, or "Devil's Teeth.”

“Cowgirl on the Beach – Bandon, Oregon
Enter this photograph at low tide and get carried away with the free-spirited horseperson galloping across the black sand beach and a million-year old sea stack in Bandon Oregon.”
