Bean Hole Bean Dinner-2nd Saturday in August The Patten Lumbermen's Museum was established to document Maine Logging History by preserving the logging heritage and accomplishments of early inhab

itants of the state of Maine. Exhibits at the museum include some of Maine's most notable contributions to the early mechanization of logging, including the Lombard Steam Hauler, Lombard Gas Hauler, and the Peavey Cant Dog. Visit our museum to lean more about Maine logging history, including the use of bateaux on waterways to transport supplies, the stories of the fearless river drivers, what life was like inside a remote logging camp, and even the role of bean hole beans.

We are excited to share that we will be hosting Maine Author Cathie Pelletier at here at the library and Patten Lumbermen's Museum on September 17th at 6pm. She will be speaking about her Best Selling Book "Northeaster: A Story of Courage and Survival in the Blizzard of 1952" Cathie will have copies of her books available for purchase that evening. Many thanks to The Friends of Veterans' Memorial Library who have sponsored this event through the support of the philanthropic arm of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Point32Health Foundation.

Busy getting ready for the annual Bean Hole Bean Dinner. Bean watch today starting at 10, Dinner tomorrow starting at 11. We are reselling tickets today for tomorrow's dinner (August 8th) and selling quart containers of beans today. We also have vegan beans. Stop by and check out the action.

This group of young people doing the Pioneer Trek will be leaving the Patten Lumbermen's Museum between 11 am and noon on Thursday.July 23rd. Please come out and cheer them on. They will travel to Main St and onto Katahdin Ave.
