Parkersburg, IA Historical Society The focus of the Parkersburg Historical Society is the preservation and restoration of the C.C. Wolf Mansion by sharing this treasure with the public. The C.C.

Wolf home was constructed in 1895 at a cost of $35,000. It was used as the private residence of Charles C. & Mary A. Wilson Wolf until 1926 when it was sold at public auction for $8000. It was later gifted to the City of Parkersburg to be used as a Community House which housed the public library, community organizations and also provided a hall for banquets and dances until 1970 when the City turn

ed it over to the newly formed Parkersburg Historical Society. The last 45 years have been spent restoring the beautiful Queen Anne style Victorian home. Parkersburg's history in the form of artifacts, photographs and other items gifted by families connected to Parkersburg are maintained within the walls and are open for public viewing from Memorial Day to Labor Day or by appointment. Membership is $10 per person annually.

Many thanks to Gordon Hutton and Steve Wicks for managing the crew that came over from A-P on Community Service Day and Craig Schrage for providing a pickup to haul away the debris as well as Jan Thomas for lending us her lawn sweeper! The grounds look great!

Here a few more photos of our exhibit spaces on the lower level at the Wolf Mansion. These two spaces and others have really been worked over in the last few weeks and you will want to visit in person to get the full effect when we open for touring on Sunday May 24th from 1:00-3:00 pm.

We received some nice donations again this past week from our beloved members.
