Today at our Kids Creative Camp, our campers learned about photography - concepts, techniques and hands-on experience - from photographer and journalism teacher, Mia Nickel. Then, they headed over to Frames on Main Gallery to see how Bobby Shiflet turned his hobby into a career and business.

These photos were taken by one of our attendees, Krista, where she demonstrated leading lines, contrast and perspective. 📸 I don’t know, Bobby! You may have some stiff up and coming competition! ☺️

A well-deserved congratulations to Roda Ferraro and the Keeneland Library on receiving the Kentucky Historical Society’s highest preservation honor.

During Black History Month, the Hopewell Museum partnered with Roda and the Keeneland Library to bring their The Heart of the Turf: Racing’s Black Pioneers exhibit and educational programming to our museum. The stories shared through her and the exhibit helped shine a light on the often-overlooked contributions of Black horsemen and horsewomen who played a vital role in Kentucky’s racing history.

We are grateful to have been a small part of Keeneland Library’s mission and celebrate this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations to everyone involved in preserving and sharing these stories for future generations!

The Keeneland Library in Lexington has received the Thomas D. Clark Award of Excellence from the Kentucky Historical Society, the organization's highest honor.
