We need your help!
This photograph from February 1961 misidentifies this Paragould man as Al Hagen. The person pictured here is shown with the old power plant’s curfew whistle and we’d like to know who he is for a project we are working on. Please comment ⬇️

Erik and Tonya from the History Room met with the nice folks at CALS in Little Rock this morning to discuss some exciting new programs coming to Greene County.

Earlier this week, the S.S. Lipscomb Genealogy & History Research Center posted a photo of an unidentified drug store from the early days of Paragould. Thanks to the power of social media local attorney and Paragould resident Neal Burns immediately recognized the picture. Turns out, Neal's ancestors, the Metheny family, had owned the building and Neal, as a young boy, even stored his Legos in some of the pictured cabinets. Now, the building is long gone, but some may recall it was on the site of what is now Affordable Medical on Kingshighway near Dairy Queen. We have added Neal's valuable family information to our files and thank him very much for his visit!

We are very thankful for our friendship and partnership with the Greene County Museum. Here is a display of some prehistoric artifacts from the area donated by the museum that is now on display in the S.S. Lipscomb Genealogy & History Research Center which is the history room of the library. Come by and check it out!
