Paragould History Trail

Paragould History Trail The 2.2 mile handicap accessible trail begins and ends at the Greene County Museum. The FREE self-guided urban hike is suitable for year-round enjoyment.

The award winning Paragould History Trail is an urban walking trail through the streets of historic downtown Paragould. The 2.2 mile handicap-accessible trail begins and ends at the Greene County Museum. The trail tells the story of the city's growth and expasion from the beginning. It consists of 18 historic structures, varying from residences, businesses, churches, to government buildings, all o

f which showcase aspects of Paragould’s history. The self-guided hike is suitable for year-round enjoyment. The Paragould History Trail was created in 2010 by Leyton Gassaway to proudly share some of the rich history of her hometown with others. Leyton gave the project to the Greene County Museum as an extra source of revenue for them. She also created a 13-page brochure and a patch for hikers. The brochure can be printed from the Greene County Museum's website, and the patch can be purchased at the Greene County Museum for $3.00. “Everyone who completes the trail leaves with a better sense of community awareness and appreciation,” says Leyton.
