A time capsule was placed in the cornerstone of the new Palmyra Classical Union School building in 1889. Pictured here is the dedication ceremony. The time capsule included information from the Village of Palmyra, the names of all local ministers, bank holdings, a copy of the Declaration of Independence, and more.

The second school to stand on the Canandaigua Street lot (where the present Palmyra-Macedon Primary School is today) was built in 1889, with a cornerstone holding a time capsule. This building served the community for 34 years before the current school was built.

Built in 1848, the Palmyra Union Classical School stood on the same site as the current Palmyra-Macedon Primary School. The building cost $11,000 and was three stories. This school served the community for forty-one years before being torn down and replaced with a larger school.
