On October 30, Downtown Palmer will be filled with participating businesses and organizations ready to welcome little ghosts, ghouls, superheroes, princesses, dinosaurs, and everything in between.

And we're just getting started introducing this year's lineup!

Thank you to all who attended our Artist Talk with Ruth Hulbert and Daniel Hughes last Friday, September 18th. The log cabin was packed to the brim with locals gathered for the special evening discussing the historical references and techniques behind Ruth's Alaska State Fair 90th anniversary poster & logo and Daniel's living archive quilt!

You can still view their work in our art gallery until the end of September. We're open for our winter hours; Wednesday - Saturday 10 AM - 4 PM.

Thank you to everyone who registered and joined us for this evening of inspiration and learning. We're proud to support these incredible artists as part of our mission to inspire, enrich, and to cultivate the community's connection to the history and art of the Greater Palmer area.

We’re thrilled to announce that the Palmer Museum of History and Art is a 2026 grantee of the Palmer Community Foundation

Want to celebrate with us? Join the community at the Palmer Depot this THURSDAY, September 24th at 5:30 PM for the Annual Community Celebration. You’ll get to learn about all the 2026 grantees making a difference across the Greater Palmer Area, Butte, Sutton, Chickaloon, and Glacier View.

What does this mean for our museum?
Thanks to this grant, we’re acquiring a brand-new interactive digital display for our updated permanent exhibit! This new screen will bring two massive digital archives directly onto the gallery floor: The Matanuska Valley Historical Photo Project and The Matanuska Valley Colony Compendium!

A huge thank you to the Palmer Community Foundation for its mission to support resilience and self-reliance in our Matanuska Watershed communities.

Come celebrate with us this Thursday. Any and all are welcome!❤️

The Mat-Su has a packed weekend of fall events, including Talkeetna Brewfest, Pyrah's Fall Harvest Festival and a Palmer Museum artist presentation.

Live entertainment includes concerts by Emma Hill, Blackwater Railroad and the Roland Roberts Band, plus the final weekend of Valley Performing Arts’ “The Phantom Tollbooth.”

Community events include the My House Walk for Recovery in Wasilla and a Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce candidate forum in Palmer.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our community conversation about the upcoming permanent exhibit update! ✨

We had an inspiring evening listening to community members' ideas, stories, and vision for our space. Here are a few key takeaways from our discussion:

The community emphasized the importance of highlighting individual stories and narratives of the amazing people who make up Palmer's history. We also heard that hands-on, accessible experiences for all ages are a priority! We received great suggestions on how to make the space more welcoming, inclusive, and representative for a variety of audiences.
