Oxford 2126 Time Capsule – Calling on Families with Deep Oxford Roots!

As part of Oxford’s 150th Anniversary celebration, a community time capsule will be sealed and preserved until 2126—100 years from now.

We are looking for 10 letters (not more than 2 pages) from families with deep roots in Oxford to be included in the capsule. These letters will serve as a personal connection between today’s residents and future generations who will open them a century from now.

Your letter might include:
• Your family’s history in Oxford
• How and when your family came to the community
• Memories, traditions, and stories passed down through generations
• What Oxford means to your family today
• Your hopes and wishes for Oxford’s future in 2126

Whether your family has been here for generations or helped shape the community in a unique way, we would love to hear your story.

Imagine a descendant, or perhaps a complete stranger, reading your words 100 years from now and learning what life in Oxford was like in 2026.

There is something quietly powerful about seeing an American flag move in the wind.

On June 14, 1777, in the midst of a young nation still finding its footing, the Continental Congress adopted the first official flag of the United States. Thirteen stripes. Thirteen stars. A simple design, but one that carried the hopes of a new and fragile country.

Over time, the flag changed as our nation grew, but what it represents has remained constant: not perfection, but perseverance. Not ease, but endurance. A shared belief that people from many different places and stories can come together under one banner.

Flag Day, first celebrated in the late 1800s and nationally recognized in 1916, is not just about history, it’s about memory. It’s about the countless hands that have raised that flag in moments of celebration, in times of hardship, and in quiet everyday pride.

Here in Northeast Oakland County, and in communities like Oxford, the flag has flown over generations of families who built homes, served their country, worked the land, and shaped the place we know today. For many, it is stitched into personal stories of service, of loss, of homecoming, of hope.

When we pause on Flag Day, we are really pausing for those stories.

So today, as the flag rises, we invite you to take a moment, whether in silence, reflection, or conversation to remember what it has meant to those who came before us, and what it continues to mean today.

The Northeast Oakland Historical Society & Museum congratulates the Oxford High School baseball team on capturing the program’s first-ever regional championship!

Oxford baseball has a rich history of excellence and this remarkable achievement adds a new chapter to that story and will be remembered as a milestone in the proud tradition of Oxford athletics.

The entire Oxford community is proud of your hard work and historic accomplishment.

Regional Champions! For the 1st time in program history, Oxford Baseball has won the Regional Championship! They take down Milford 6-5 to take the trophy. Next up is the Quarterfinal game which will start at around 3:00PM today at Grand Blanc High School. Go Wildcats!
