This promises to be a FUN day celebrating 200 years of light at Owls Head!

Owls Head Light Station to celebrate 200 years on September 10, 2025!

The American Lighthouse Foundation, with wonderful support from the Mussel Ridge Historical Society (Owls Head, Maine History), will commemorate this milestone on September 10th - the same day Owls Head Light was lit two centuries ago in 1825.

Owls Head Light Station's 200th anniversary celebration promises to be an historic and fun event! Stay tuned for more details.

Preparing to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Owls Head Light Station on September 10, 2025!

Members of the Mussel Ridge Historical Society - Owls Head, Maine History, and the American Lighthouse Foundation met this morning at The Old Homestead in Owls Head to iron out the historic event's itinerary.

Thank you Kirsten, Vivien and Patty for volunteering to staff the light tower today on National Lighthouse Day!

Thank you to these three “Ladies of the Light!”

American Lighthouse Foundation volunteers (L to R) Kirstin Choate, Vivien Kelley and Patty Hornsberger staffed Owls Head Light this afternoon so that the tower could be open to the public on National Lighthouse Day.

Kirsten, Vivien and Patty...we really appreciate your volunteer time and efforts – and so did all the visitors who had the opportunity to climb Owls Head Lighthouse on this special day!
