It’s a windy day here at the lighthouse, but still worth a visit! We will be open in the Keeper’s House Gift Shop and Museum from 10am to 5pm today….come on out and see us!

It’s another stunning day out here at Owls Head Light today! We will have tours of the lighthouse from 1-4pm today, and we hope you will come and see the view from the lantern room. We think it’s pretty amazing! The Keeper’s House Gift Shop and Museum will also be open all day from 10am-5pm.

It is Maine Open Lighthouse Day and our volunteers have the lighthouse open for tours today from 9am to 4pm. Come visit and enjoy the stunning views of Penobscot Bay!

Maine Open Lighthouse Day at Owls Head Light...

Maine children’s author, Angeli Perrow will be signing copies of her popular book, Lighthouse Dog to the Rescue, today — Saturday, September 12th, from 1pm to 4pm in the keeper’s house at Owls Head Light.

“Lighthouse Dog to the Rescue is about Spot, a remarkable spaniel who lived at Owls Head Light with the keeper’s family in the 1930s,” says Angeli Perrow. “He learned to ring the fog bell to greet passing boats and came to the rescue of the Matinicus mailboat one stormy winter night.”

Stop by to meet Angeli and purchase a signed copy of her book!

While on site, be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to tour Owls Head Lighthouse, which will be open to visitors for Maine Open Lighthouse Day from 9am to 4pm, as will the exhibits and gift shop inside the keeper’s house at the light station.
