Artist in Residence Natalie Zelman's work in progress. Natalie writes, "Inspired by all the life in a drop of water."
One of four artists in residence this summer, Natalie holds her Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and is an illustrator and designer who focuses on 2D hand-created images. Her methods range from print-making, watercolor, acrylic, and collage. Nature continuously inspires her work, "whether it is in the microscopic forms of soil fungi, or the seed pods that have overwintered on the prairie." She is excited to translate her experience of the sights and sounds of the Emiquon Preserve into a visual statement. You can learn more about Natalie's work by visiting 3gracesfarmart.com
Check back regularly for updates about Natalie's work and the other artists who are participating in this summer's AIR and for details about the upcoming public event showcasing the projects. TFSE's Artist in Residence program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency and local funds from the Two Rivers Arts Council.
