Brickey Fine Art Art should both measure up in the museum and capture the common heart. The greatest art is that which generates the greatest good.

With two of our sons serving on missions right now, I have come to believe that missionaries are a breathe of life to the Church as well as to their families! They are also a life line to those who are struggling and to those who are seeking truth. ❤️

“Christ Walking on Water” by Joseph Brickey. The second image is the original version by Julius Sergius Von Klever.

After what may have been a long, difficult night of struggling in the midst of a tempestuous sea, the disciples see Jesus, “walking upon the sea.” He came to them “in the fourth watch of the night,” or in the early morning, and we see here that the sun is rising on a bedraggled ship and waves that are still dangerously high. In contrast to the sea and the ship and our own hearts, the Lord is untroubled, calm, and in control. “And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.” (See Mark 6:48-51 and Matt 14:24-27) The Lord teaches His followers how to be cheerful in the face of the uncertainties and pains of life. He said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) With the guarantee of hardship comes the hope and the reason for joy, for Jesus Christ has overcome the world. Those who reach for His hand will grasp His joy and His saving grace.

“Daughter of Jairus” Central in this scene is the mother’s hand, clinging to the hand of her lifeless daughter. The deathbed is reminiscent of an altar; the parents must decide whether to submit to a higher will. What has slipped away from their grip will eventually slip away from ours — our own physical life or that of a loved one. Will we be willing or unwilling? Entering from the veiled doorway is our Savior, from whom comes the light we need at such times. The scene is paused in the moment before he enters and heals, in the moment when our faith is tested and only His knowledge is sure. In Him is the only hope of comfort, of redemption, of resurrection, of reclaiming our dear ones. He waits to be invited so that He may join us in our mourning, and to heal in whatever way is best.

It was great privilege to be part of the Rome, Italy Temple project. Quotes and images in this article, and we'll share more all week, as the Open House begins.

The new Rome Temple is part of a 15-acre complex that includes, among other things, an exquisite visitors center where artist Joseph Brickey was tasked with the daunting assignment to paint his own little piece of eternity in the form of mural, 20 feet high and nearly 50 feet wide, to accompany the....

Journey to Bethlehem, by Joseph F Brickey. We are on a journey to “the house of bread”, and are invited to partake of the bread of life. What meaning do you find in this image? What do you see in Joseph? In Mary? In the shepherd?
