Save the date!

Oregon Area Historical Society: Then and Now Presentation
Wednesday, January 24, 10:45 AM at the Oregon Area Senior Center.

The Oregon Area Historical Society will present a nostalgic look back at people, places, events, and things from past decades as compared to those of today. Do you recall the days of rotary dial telephones and party-lines? Typewriters vs. computers? Wood stoves all the way to microwaves? Soda fountains in the local drug stores? These and other comparisons will be included in the presentation along with actual items from the museum. We encourage you to bring your memories of the way it was THEN compared to NOW to share!

Due to the schools being closed and the inclimate weather predicted, the museum will be closed tomorrow. We will see you next week. Stay safe Oregon!

Remember that the museum depends A LOT on you're membership dues. Without them, we wouldn't be able to host events like our Christmas at the Museum or membership meetings. If you are not a member and would like to become one, let us know.

November's Historical Fiction Recommendation is The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict.

"THE OTHER EINSTEIN is the story of Einstein’s wife, a brilliant physicist in her own right, whose contribution to the special theory of relativity is hotly debated and may have been inspired by her own profound and very personal insight. It offers us a window into a brilliant, fascinating woman whose light was lost in Einstein’s enormous shadow."

Friends....Christmas at the Museum is fast approaching. Our theme this year is A Scandinavian Christmas. We are looking for several pieces of Rosemaling to borrow for a Scandinavian display. If anyone would like to do a demonstration of Rosemaling, we would love to talk to you. Any Scandinavian clothing would be lovely (bunads, sweaters, etc) as well.
