Thanks to Sabrina Stone for promoting the museum and the story of Louisiana orphan train riders.

In the zydeco capital of the world, there is a surprising museum that dives into the complex history of an unusual social welfare movement.

Merci Beaucoup to Ginger Latiolais and The French Table at the Petroleum Club Group for our most recent Community Outreach held at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette.

Board Members James Douget and Martha Aubert were guest speakers informing and educating the group of the historical Orphan Train Movement and the influences the French language had on many Louisiana Orphan Train Riders as they arrived in south Louisiana. There are many stories of our Louisiana Orphan Train Riders having to learn to speak French in order to communicate with their new foster parents. Recently, some French text has been placed in the museum to enhance the visit for any French speaking visitor.
