Founded in 1954, the Old Orchard Beach Historical Society is a member supported organization dedicated to collecting and preserving evidence of our local history and to educating our citizens about the unique history of Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

Woohooo it’s Docent Day !!!
This week we are featuring another OOBHS graduate, Class of 1977, Debbie Potvin Lariviere !!!!!! The Historical Society is so blessed to have such a compassionate, fun and caring woman volunteering her knowledge and memories to the visitors that visit”.

“ Hello, My name is Debbie (Potvin) Lariviere. I’m proud to say that I’ve lived in Old Orchard Beach for the past 55 years and truly love this town. I worked at Unum for 40 years before happily retiring in 2018. Some of my hobbies include cooking, reading, knitting and attending various theatrical productions in Maine. In addition to volunteering for the Old Orchard Beach Historical Society, I volunteer for the Old Orchard Beach Alumni Association helping to raise money for graduating seniors. As an adult, I have come to appreciate history even more than I already did and especially the rich history of Old Orchard Beach, which is why I have chosen to volunteer. Although I am still learning some of our rich history, I would love to share what I do know with anyone who would like to pay us a visit”.

It’s Docent Day !!!!! This week we are featuring a VERY familiar OOB face. She was a former 5th Grade teacher📚 in OOB. This Docent is one of the Museums funniest, most charismatic volunteers and you are SURE to LAUGH 😂 during your guided tour!!!!!! We are so grateful to have her here at the Historical Society😎
