Celebrate Independence Day twice! ✨✨

Join us for two chances to experience an 1860s Fourth of July!

🎆 Independence Day: 1860s Style! — July 4 | 10 AM–4 PM
Spend the day exploring how Independence Day was celebrated in the 1860s with living history, hands-on activities, stagecoach rides, demonstrations, and have the chance to meet Lady Columbia and Uncle Sam!

🎇 Fireworks: 1860s Style! — July 9 | 6–10 PM | FREE admission
Grab your lawn chairs and pack your picnics for an evening of live music, stagecoach rides, apple pie, and 1860s fireworks! Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m., accompanied by patriotic music and a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Please note, these are non-aerial fireworks and you must be on the Mahaffie grounds to see them.

The circle of life 🌾🪱🌱
Youth volunteers spent the week clearing out old wheat from the peg barn. The wheat went into the manure dumpster, which is collected by the City and taken to the Olathe Community Recycling Center, where it’s processed into compost. Come spring, they’ll drop off a load of compost for us to use in the garden.

City of Olathe offices will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

Trash and recycling collection will remain on schedule.

Olathe Municipal Court will be closed Friday, June 19.

Both locations of the Olathe Public Library will be closed Friday, June 19.

Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm will be closed Friday, June 19.

The Olathe Community Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 19.

Oregon Trail Pool, Mill Creek Pool, Frontier Pool are all closed

The Beach at Lake Olathe closes at 3:00 PM

Black Bob Bay closes at 4:00 PM

The transfer station and Olathe Recycling Center will be open during regular hours.

Household Hazardous Waste and the Re-Use Store will be closed Friday, June 19.
