CLOSING SOON: Don’t miss “The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce,” on view now at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

After sustaining structural damage in a January 2020 earthquake, Puerto Rico’s Museo de Arte de Ponce has sent its greatest treasures on tour while it undergoes restoration. A centerpiece of the show is Frederic, Lord Leighton’s Flaming June (1895), depicting a sleeping woman draped in diaphanous orange, a luminous star of the museum’s renowned Pre-Raphaelite painting collection.

Joining it are works from across six centuries by European, Puerto Rican, and North American artists, including Gustave Courbet, Francisco de Goya, Peter Paul Rubens, and John Singer Sargent.

“The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce” is on view through September 20.
