During street racing crackdowns in the 1990s, the New York City Police Department and the Queens District Attorney’s Office took an unusual approach.
Instead of disposing of confiscated cars, they repurposed several Ford Mustang Fox Body models into police vehicles.
These cars, once used in illegal racing, were rebuilt and fitted for patrol duties, effectively reversing their role on the streets.
The move turned high-performance cars into tools for enforcement, while also sending a clear message about the consequences of street racing.
Today, surviving Fox Body Mustangs have become collectible, with values varying widely depending on condition and originality.
The story remains a unique example of how seized vehicles were given a completely different purpose.
