Today's featured artist is Dan Quinn, who you'll find at Stop P.

"I make sculptures in wood and stone, and maquettes in terra cotta. The bulk of them are abstract, organic in form, but I also carve figurative and animal sculptures that are sometimes abstracted. I also make assemblages, often from the negative forms left over from the blocking out process, as well as masks and furniture. I usually do the blocking out with a chainsaw, but am not a chainsaw sculptor. They are indoor and outdoor--garden sculptures, and are freestanding and for wall
hanging, with many totems."

"I got started in The Washington Sculptors Group many years ago, and used to participate in shows. I had a one man show at Montgomery College Takoma Park, which was important to me because of the interaction with interested students, as well as the art faculty. I am always scrounging around looking for material to inspire me and get them from landscaping jobs, storm tree debris, and field stones."

Today's featured artist is Ron Miller, who you'll find at Stop O: Alpine Lake Lodge.

"I am an amateur wildlife and nature photographer and a proud hillbilly from the Ozark Mountains of southern Missouri. Growing up in the rural backcountry gave me a deep love for the mountains, forests, streams, lakes, and farmland of that part of America. After serving in the Navy and studying Water/Wastewater Treatment and Stream Ecology at Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri, I began a 32 year career with the National Park Service."

"Working in parks across the country broadened my appreciation for the incredible diversity of North America’s flora and fauna. Before retiring from my final post at National Park Headquarters in Washington, DC, I fell in love with the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, which reminded me of the Ozarks of my youth. After buying property at Alpine Lake near Terra Alta, WV, I picked up a camera and slowly
developed my photography skills. As I shared better wildlife photos on social media, a small following began to grow."

"Today, my wife, Jennifer—also a National Park Service employee—and I carry our cameras around Alpine Lake, still marveling at the beauty and diversity of the natural world."

"As an artist I always try to find a way to grow, to re-imagine my painting process to incorporate new and innovative ideas. My goal is to always be an "apprentice": ever learning and growing in my craft, evolving and changing along with my life experiences and inspired by the artists around me."

"I have been painting in acrylic and watercolor for over 30 years. I have been featured in the Catholic Review Magazine for commissioned art work for St Peter the Apostle Parish in Oakland, MD where I created 14 Icons of the Stations of the Cross as well as a 3" x 4" Icon of The Holy Family. Today's featured artist is Steve Imes, who you'll find at Stop L: Upcycled Lamps.
Stop L is actually a 2-fer, as it features artists (Choo Choo Rooster & Upcycled Lamps) who are also neighbors!

"I make lamps from found objects such as music instruments, vintage cameras, and vintage golf bags. I use other unique items including plumbing parts to make robot and rocket lamps. These lamps have an industrial or steampunk feel. The lamps are one-of-a-kind and can be whimsical or nostalgic."

"I have been tinkering with making custom lamps for at least 10 years. I enjoy scavenging flea markets, yard sales and auctions for unique parts to sculpt into lamps. I find it calming and rewarding to repurpose unused items into functional, unique objects."
