We are so fortunate to have come across some grant money to replace some of our roofs at the historic Park which is so badly needed. So exciting that we are able to save some of these buildings for the next generation to enjoy. Stop by when you have a chance to check things out.

Check out this old image of the Laramore-Lyman house at its original location on Road 426 near Road 425b. You can see Potter Ridge in the background I guess I never realized how close it was to the China Creek Bridge. Can you guess how old the photo is based on the age of the cars? This would have been before they widened Road 426 there to four lanes.

Have you ever heard of a metal rod used as a spring for closing a screen door? The fixed rod twists as you open the door and then springs back to close it.

We stumbled on this clever old-world solution while working to harden the Laramore/Lyman House from the elements through a grant we've recently secured.

As part of this effort, historic preservation consultant Jason Partida was on site today to meet with our board and contractor Tim Breidenstein to help strengthen our plan for protecting our collections.

The home's facelift comes at perfect timing—Mary Laramore's birthday is this month (January 25), and she's turning a youthful 184 years old! The park will soon be buzzing with activity as we work on new roofs and other projects.

It's incredibly satisfying to preserve these structures and the history of our area for the next generation.

Happy birthday, Mary!
