Title - Levi Balmer house, Date - 1982, medium - watercolor on Arches paper. -- I haven't posted any artwork for a while. -- This watercolor hangs on a wall in the lower level of our house. -- During that period of time we operated our pottery shop on Water Street, and I was a bus driver for the Nauvoo Colusa school district. -- There were several old buildings on the routes I drove that were inspiration for painting. This house was a favorite subject of mine. It was located south and east of Nauvoo. It was torn down and hasn't been there for years. ---- One Christmas, one of the students that rode my bus gave me a present of some Arches watercolor paper. Their mother was a good friend and knew I liked to paint. It was a great gift. --- Merry Christmas to all.

Watercolor on Arches paper. -- One of my Favorite watercolor paintings from that time and used on our business cards. -- Title - "Payne Homestead" date 1982 -- Wow over 40 years ago. -- This is an imaginary farmstead of my grandparents. -- My mother was born in a sod house on a farm around Tryon, Nebraska, in 1912. --- She told of gathering cow chips for the stove and of her father taking a team and wagon to North Platte for coal. -- She also mentioned one of her duties was to clean the coal oil lamps in the mornings with newspaper. ---- Hard to believe this kind of life today in 2023.
