Throwback Thursday to the OG Oak Brook Polo Club.

OBPC is reaching it's 100th year (2022), and at one time was the heartbeat of American polo.

In 1922, Paul Butler formed the Oak Brook Polo Club and built four more polo grounds and more stables with stalls for about 60 horses. On the grounds was a small clubhouse, known as Polo House.

Thereafter OBPC celebrated many years of being the place to watch polo not only in Chicago, but in the country. We're really grateful for the continued presence of the Butler family, Jim Drury, the OBPC Patron, the very talented current team of pros and of course each and every fan.

We'll continue to drip the story of the Oak Brook Polo Club into our social channels over the next few weeks, but for now, could you even imagine 100 years back of watching polo at the Oak Brook Polo Club?!

Comment with what you love most about watching polo today!

Wednesday August 31, 1992: "Was it a bird? A plane? A country lovin' presidential candidate? Police sealed all entrances to the Oakbrook Mariott Hotel on Monday night. Media representatives from the Chicago area gathered in a ballroom and feasted on egg rolls, meatballs and pastries. The occasion? A Garth Brooks press conference. Brooks, who appears in a sold-out show Friday night at the World Music Theatre, was on a whirlwind press tour to promote 'Beyond the Season,' his Christmas album that was released Tuesday, and his affiliation with the Feed the Children nonprofit hunger relief organization. Brooks began the day with a morning press session in Los Angeles, a noon visit with the San Francisco media and a meet and greet."
