Our Light in the Shadows event may have ended, but YOU still have a unique opportunity to commemorate and honor the sacrifices of the Fallen 13 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ!

Through the end of this week, the photos of the Fallen 13 will remain on display in front of their memorial, as will the beautiful wreath donated by Baue Funeral Home (O'Fallon).

Finally, visitors to the museum will also have access to our hometown hero, Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz's Purple Heart πŸ’œ, his Congressional Medal of Honor, and a Presidential Challenge Coin that was personally gifted to the Schmitz family by President Donald J. Trump! These medals will remain on display at the museum until Friday. Thank you to the Schmitz Family for loaning these beautiful items!

Shanna Hughes-Collins joined the Illinois 🌽 Army National Guard in 1988 before graduating from high school. Shanna chose to become an 88M πŸ›» (Truck Driver), a fairly uncommon Army job for female recruits at that time. In fact, there were several uncommon things about Shanna's time in the National Guard. Her Guard unit included her own brother, multiple other sets of siblings, and a newlywed couple!
