June is an important month for the Norton County Historical Society. We will be participating in the Norton County Community Fund Match Day and have our annual meeting where officers are elected for the next year. During June I am going to try to post a new photo every day. Photos will be random with no connection with each other and no particular reason for that day. Please comment on the photos if know information about them.

Although this stone is in Rooks County, there is a connection to Norton County through Phillips county. In the lower right corner of the stone is the stone mason’s mark. J.M. Tinney was a stone mason in Kirwin Kansas. One of his sons was Dr. Ray Tinney who was a doctor in Kirwin for several years and then moved to Norton. The house referred to in one of the photos is located on E Main St. and most recently was the Rose of Sharon.
