• MAZ DOLL • He said, “ I’ve always wanted a boy doll to go with my girl doll - do you have any boy dolls?” Yes, but he doesn’t have any arms and I don’t know where he is. AND I always intended for him to have an inlaid circle, but could never decide the perfect solution. Then we moved the studio from West Adams to Northridge, and in the unpacking process the boy that was found! MAZ and I started collaborating: Photos revealed that his girl doll had a silver disc engraved WEIR 1972. That was odd, because I never signed the little dolls and used the silver discs only on larger pieces, lambs, elephants and rocking horses. BUT I found small packages of unused engraved silver discs, which I stopped using after GREGORY and I were married in 1973 and we both changed our names to WEIR-QUITON.
It was the perfect solution for the guy doll! Now we just had to update the arms to match.
