New blog post on finding inspiration close to home on the blog page at picturelogue.net...

Images hiding… Within a mile… Within an hour…

One of the questions I get asked most often is about how and where to find inspiration and subjects. Trust me. They’re everywhere you turn! Sometimes it’s a matter of looking at things you see every single day in a different way. Or, capitalizing on the tools you have at hand to enhance otherwise mundane subjects. I still believe, after 50 years of making images, that a good photographer n walk into an empty room and walk out 5 minutes later with a decent photo.

Though none of these is exactly a masterpiece, I like quite a few of them. They were ALL taken on a short walk over a weekend in October within a mile of my home and within an hour’s time. Most of the subjects are in locations I pass nearly daily but it’s not until I put on a “different set of eyes” that I find the images hiding in plain sight.

This is a great ‘exercise” in seeing. Try it in your home or neighborhood and send us some of your results. When we can, we’ll share them.

Thanks.

Come visit http://www.picturelogue.net: The Gallery's new Website. It's only partly done at this time... much more to come. I've been trying to teach this old dog some new tricks and I have to say that it's not easy. Fortunately, with the help of WIX, I haven't had to learn programming though I will attempt WordPress down the line. In the meantime, please visit our Archives, a multi page section where our exhibitions will live on. Only the most current additions will be found on the New Work pages. Our reviews will be found right here on the Blog pages. Please do let me know if there are additional features you'd like to see and stay tuned for our review of John Neel's new book, "Focus." (Hint.... it's terrific.... "Focus." Who knew there was a whole book there and a damn good one too?)

It's official. We're now picturelogue.net. More photographers, more great work, new articles, new reviews. Please tell your friends and anyone interested in photography. Stay tuned for our new Website at http://www.picturelogue.net!

The transition to the new Website and company, picturelogue.net is moving along albeit slower than I'd like. Sometimes life gets in the way of life and a recent concussion hasn't helped. Still looking at early September though. Please stay tuned. It will be worth it.

From real to virtual plus more...
August 24, 2017

Owning a physical gallery was a great privilege, but questions remained... How could I feature more images and image makers and even better images? How could I add more useful information and make it easily accessible? How could I increase educational offerings? How could I add new tools for image makers? And last, but not least, the ever-present questions, how can find many more visitors and pay for all of this?

The logical answer was to move from a physical presence costing may thousands of dollars annually to an online presence at a far more reasonable cost. But, for a print addict like me, the idea of giving up tangible, viewable prints, that I have always regarded as the ultimate photographic medium, is hard.

One way of addressing this is to offer prints through our "lab partner" http://www.ecovisuallab.com, the world's first virtually 100% green custom photo "lab." Their prints are museum quality, archival, made from sustainable, reclaimed fibers from cottonseed oil manufacturing (food grade) using entirely VOC-free inks. I believe you will find EcoVisualLab's prints to be among the finest you have ever seen in black-and-white or color. Look for prints for sale on our site. You will often have the choice between prints provided by the image maker and prints from our "lab partner."
