💘 This Valentine’s Day, fall in love with Historic Easton all over again.

With a lovely 42° and partly sunny skies in the forecast, it’s the perfect excuse to get outside, stretch your legs, and explore the stories tucked into our beautiful downtown streets. Brick sidewalks, centuries-old buildings, charming corners, and just enough crisp winter air to make that post-tour coffee taste even better.

Grab your sweetheart, your best friend, or just your favorite walking shoes — and join us for a guided stroll through history at 2pm.

No more winter hibernation. No more excuses. Just fresh air, fascinating stories, and 42 degrees of February perfection. ❤️

Pre-registration is required. https://sigalmuseum.org/event/easton-historic-district-walking-tour/

On this day in 1760, Richard Allen was born. Enslaved in Delaware to Stokely Sturgis, Allen purchased his freedom around 1780 and arrived in Philadelphia carrying a pass signed by Sturgis that described his character as honest and permitted him to travel and work as a free man.

In 1787, Allen founded Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church, which sits on the oldest parcel of land in the United States continuously owned by African Americans.

Allen’s original pass is now on view in our exhibit "The Changing Faces of Independence," on display through April 24.

to when gas was 14 cents per gallon! The photograph from the collection of the Moravian Historical Society shows two men standing in front of J.H. Fulmer Auto Co. This was the first gasoline station in Nazareth and was located at the northeast corner of Main Street and Easton Road. The owner was J. H. Fulmer, who was also the Northampton County dealer for the Ford Motor Company. This photograph, taken in 1907, shows manager G. Frank Kratzer (left) and Matt Uhler.
