GOT A PIE WORTH BRAGGING ABOUT?

We want to taste it! Our Third Annual Pie Baking & Tasting Contest is coming up on Sunday, September 6, and we’re looking for bakers ready to bring their best.

Last year’s winning pies set the bar high: Key Lime took Best Tasting, Bacon Bourbon Apple won Most Creative, and Double Chocolate Berry took home both Best Looking and People’s Choice. What will this year’s winning pie be?

Make two identical 9-inch pies—one for the tasting competition and one for our silent auction supporting the Truro Historical Society. Pies should be dropped off at the Highland House between 10–11 AM.

What Happened to Truro’s Clams?

Once upon a time, Truro’s waters teemed with clams—a plentiful part of local life and an important part of our coastal ecosystem.

Tonight, lifelong Truro summer resident and scientist Parker Small Jr. shares the story of Truro’s clams, what happened to them, and his fascinating effort to help bring them back.

Parker was recently featured in The Provincetown Independent for his work toward restoring surf clams off Cold Storage Beach. Come hear the story firsthand—part local history, part science, and part hopeful experiment.

Our annual online art auction is now open, featuring original paintings, artist studies, sketches, prints, and maritime works from the Truro Historical Society's collection and generous friends and supporters.

Featured here is Judith Shahn's Skiffs, a signed and numbered print generously donated by Cove Gallery. We’re especially pleased to feature Shahn as we look ahead to our August 26 program celebrating her work and artistic legacy.

And there’s much more to discover—including works by George Yater, Courtney Allan, William & Lucy L’Engle, Joan Pereira, and others.

Some are masterworks. Some are hidden gems. All have a story.

Who was Josephine Nivison Hopper?

Long before she was known as Edward Hopper’s wife, Jo was a fiery, funny, fiercely independent artist with a personality all her own. Her letters and diaries reveal a woman who was outspoken, observant and full of life—and whose complicated devotion to Edward Hopper shaped both of their lives.

On Wednesday, August 12th, join us at Highland House for a closer look at the woman behind the name. We’ll explore Jo through her own words, her artwork, and textiles from our collection currently on display at the museum.

It’s a chance to meet the Jo Hopper we rarely get to see—not simply as Edward Hopper’s wife or muse, but as an artist and remarkable woman in her own right.

This week, the Truro Historical Society proudly presents the public premiere of Fishing and Fishnet—a compelling new documentary that tells the remarkable story of John and Tiny Worthington, whose businesses helped Truro weather the Great Depression by providing jobs for local families.

Featuring rare historic photographs, archival materials, and firsthand interviews, this 42-minute film captures the determination, innovation, and community spirit that shaped one of Truro's most inspiring chapters.

Dennis Minsky returns to the Highland House Museum tomorrow night!

Join us for a special evening as Dennis shares stories of the landscapes, wildlife, and natural rhythms that make the Outer Cape such a remarkable place.

For the first time in Truro, Dennis will also read from his new book, 'Little Sister Sand: Finding the Wild in Provincetown', weaving together history, nature, and a deep love of this extraordinary landscape.
