Six U.S Presidents have visited Vermont, but which U.S President has visited North Hero?

- Thomas Jefferson toured the Revolutionary War battlefields in Bennington in late May 1791.

- James Madison came to visit Vermont in 1817 as part of his great northern tour.

- Rutherford B. Hayes visited family roots in Brattleboro shortly after his inauguration in 1877.

- Theodore Roosevelt attended a game dinner at the Fisk Farm on Isle La Motte on September 6, 1901, when he received news that President William McKinley had been shot.

- Calvin Coolidge was sworn in as President at his family homestead in Plymouth Notch in 1923, and returned in September 1928 to deliver a famous speech about the recovery efforts from the massive 1927 flood.

Did you know that historical images of North Hero and the Champlain Islands have been captured for posterity through antique post cards?

What: Historic Images of North Hero and Lake Champlain as presented in Antique Post Cards from the early 20th Century
When: Thursday June 25th, 6:30pm
Where: North Hero Community Hall

Come enjoy a free a presentation by Ron Fierstein, who fervent collector of thousands of Lake Champlain images that document the history of our beloved island.

Recognize images of our own City Bay, Hero's Welcome, the North Hero House, and the Court House, with views of the Carrying Place (by Birdland) and the bridges that connect our island to outside the world.

Ron is passionate about his collection and a gripping storyteller.
Come join us for a fun evening of nostalgia and education and remember what makes North Hero such a special place to be treasured.

Ron will also be touching on some of the buildings featured in the North Hero Historic House Tour (www.NorthHeroHistoricHouseTour.org)
