🏕️⚔️ This Past Weekend at Fort Loudoun 🦬

This past weekend, members of Compagnie LeBoeuf stepped back into the 18th century at Fort Loudoun, taking part in a French and Indian War living history event.

Set along the Pennsylvania frontier, Fort Loudoun once stood as a key outpost during a time of uncertainty, where soldiers, settlers, and nations navigated both conflict and fragile alliances. Throughout the weekend, those moments came to life again—through drill, maneuver, and the ever-present balance between battle and negotiation.

Events like this are more than reenactments—they are a chance to experience the realities of the past, to interpret the stories of those who lived it, and to share that history with the public.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped bring history to life.

Old Fort Niagara is honored to extend a special invitation to our unit to participate in the 300th Anniversary Commemoration of the French Castle, taking place June 5–7, 2026.

Event Overview

June 5—Education Day (10:00 am - 1:00 pm)

Our Education Day will explore the lives of soldiers, civilians, and Indigenous peoples before, during, and after the construction of the French Castle.

If our unit is interested in offering a short presentation or demonstration related to this theme, we would be delighted to include you. Educational stations typically last about 10 minutes and may be tailored to your unit’s expertise or interest.

We also welcome volunteers from your unit who may wish to assist Old Fort Niagara’s staff with educational stations throughout the program (specific assignments will be determined as we approach the event). Please let us know if anyone from your group would like to participate in this way.

June 6—Anniversary Ceremony

The principal day of commemoration, featuring formal ceremonies and special programming honoring the French Castle’s 300‑year history.

June 7—Optional Living History Programming

For units wishing to remain for additional interpretation, we will offer opportunities to engage visitors through demonstrations and living history activities.

We would be delighted to celebrate this historic anniversary with you.

Save the date... America's 250 Living History Cast Iron Cooking at Cook Forest State Park will be on Saturday, September 19th. This is a one-time only new park event that you will NOT want to miss! Come celebrate America’s 250th Birthday as you walk back in time through the Indian Cabin colony at Tom's Run to observe, and possibly sample, historical cast iron cooking from our nation’s past. State park educators from across North Central and Western PA will be dressed in period clothing preparing period dishes, that relate back to their home park, from our nation’s founding to the late 1800’s.
