ExplorOlogy® makes science exciting, relevant and accessible to Oklahomans of all ages by immersing them in authentic science experiences. This series of programs allows participants to actively “do science” by getting outside, working with actual scientists and experiencing the world we share at no cost to the participant. ExplorOlogy® was founded in 2007 by the Whitten-Newman Foundation and the
Sam Noble Museum as an initiative to introduce young people in Oklahoma to science in their very home state. In the first five years, over 50,000 school children experienced field-based research. Funding for ExplorOlogy® during this period was provided by a grant from the Whitten-Newman Foundation. In 2015, ExplorOlogy® was sponsored in part by Oklahoma's oil and natural gas producers and royalty owners, through the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB). The OERB’s purpose is to conduct environmental restoration of orphaned and abandoned well sites and to educate Oklahomans about energy. More information about the OERB's student education efforts can be found at OERBHomeRoom.com
