This was originally the summer home of a prominent Norfolk family by the name of Venable on Willoughby Spit. The entire tract of land was bought by Harrie O. Pearson, Sr. Mr. Pearson renamed it, Trails End, and turned it into a restaurant on the first flooor and a dance area on the second floor. After the death of Mr. Pearson, Sr., Trails End was managed by his oldest son, William, until the land was taken to build I-64.

Today the Ocean View Station Museum honors the memory of the Dixie Grocery. Many in Willoughby just called it the "Little Store". Please share with us your memories of the Dixie or whatever the "Little Store" in your neighborhood was

Central Ocean View, 1972. The two blocks across from the amusement park would later be razed starting in 1975. The area is now occupied by the Ocean View shopping center, which opened in 1978
