There’s an art to community. 🎶

One of the things we’re most excited about through our new collaboration with Niagara Frontier Publications (Niagara Frontier Publications), CAM’s Featured Media Partner for the 2026–2027 season, is the opportunity to look beyond our own walls and celebrate the artists, events, and people who make our region such a vibrant place to call home.

The Lewiston Jazz Festival is a perfect example. From live music and dancing to streets filled with friends and neighbors, events like this remind us just how much creativity and culture can be found throughout the River Region, Niagara County, and Grand Island communities.

As part of our year-long media collaboration, NFP will be sharing moments like these with CAM so that together, we can shine a larger spotlight on the incredible arts and cultural experiences happening throughout our community.

Supporting the arts means supporting one another—and celebrating all the wonderful things our community has to offer. We’re proud to work alongside our Featured Media Partner to help tell those stories.

A little press love for Niagara Follies! 🎶

Thank you to our Featured Media Partner, ⁠Niagara Frontier Publications, for helping us share the story behind this one-of-a-kind CAM Meets performance. Their recent feature takes a closer look at how historic sheet music from CAM’s Charles Rand Penney Collection will come to life through music, dance, period-inspired costumes, and a little Niagara nostalgia.

Join us Thursday, September 24, from 6:30–8:30 p.m. for Niagara Follies: Music from the CAM Collection, presented in collaboration with the Lewiston Council on the Arts. Hear historic Niagara-themed works—including Table Rock Schottisch and A Trip to Niagara, March and Two Step—alongside barbershop harmonies, ragtime, the Charleston, and more.

There is something magical that happens when I stand in front of a work that came directly from an artist’s mind and hands. WNY has so many beautiful galleries in extraordinary spaces, crafted and curated by incredible, hard-working teams and volunteers.

What I love most about art is that not everything is conventionally beautiful, but when you see a work that stirs, challenges, or inspires, it will stay with you for days.

🐾 Happy National Dog Day!

Today we’re celebrating our four-legged friends with a charming photograph from the CAM Collection Archive.

Best known for his iconic Pop Art works, Andy Warhol also had a lifelong affection for animals—especially dogs. This intimate black-and-white photograph reveals a quieter side of the artist, capturing two canine companions with warmth, curiosity, and an appreciation for the beauty of everyday moments.

While this work isn’t currently on view in the museum, you can explore it—and hundreds of other artworks from the CAM Collection—through the CAM Collection Archive on our website. It’s a wonderful way to discover the depth and diversity of the museum’s permanent collection from wherever you are.

Applications are still open for the Second Annual CAM Holiday Art Market, returning December 12–13 at the Castellani Art Museum. We’re excited to welcome artists, artisan makers, galleries, specialty food vendors, and local shops for another festive weekend celebrating creativity, craftsmanship, and community.

⚾ The boys of summer may be winding down, but America’s pastime is always in season.

On view in USA250: Celebrating the American Vision, Jim Dow’s Fenway Park, Boston, MA (1982) captures one of the nation’s most iconic ballparks in remarkable detail. Presented as a triptych of color coupler prints, the work invites viewers to pause and appreciate a place that has become woven into the fabric of American culture.

Born in Boston in 1942, Jim Dow is celebrated for his large-format panoramic photographs documenting baseball and football stadiums across North America. Influenced by legendary photographer Walker Evans, Dow’s images preserve more than architecture—they capture the stories, traditions, and shared experiences that define everyday American life.

As the final weeks of summer arrive, this photograph serves as a reminder of afternoons at the ballpark, the crack of the bat, and the enduring role baseball has played in bringing generations together.
