It was back to school night for your NHS! Tonight we had the opportunity to hear our very own, John Bailey, give us the history and tour this completely intact, one room school house in Newville! State Road School was built in 1840 and graduated their last class in 1956. The slate board has the names of the teachers of this beautiful school. What a great way to spend the evening!

Beneath our beams of local lore, where dusty records stay, John Bailey guards the town's secrets, so they never slip away.
The undisputed chieftain of the Newville history crew, He knows the bones of every house from old construction to new.
From Springfield over to Newville, across the Cumberland ground, No property deed or hidden story can escape his sleuthing hound. He knows the folks of yesteryear from all around Big Spring, And goes spelunking down in every cave to map out everything!
He curates every artifact with Big Spring pride, At the Newville Historical Society, where the ghosts of the past abide.
So raise a toast to the master mind who keeps the records hot and remembers details about your house that you entirely forgot!
So when you see John out and about today,
Wish him a heartfelt, Big Spring HAPPY BIRTHDAY!😃😃
