Warkentin House Museum

Warkentin House Museum The Warkentin House is the former home of Bernhard and Wilhelmina Warkentin in Newton, Kansas. Built in 1887, it is now a historic house museum.

The house is listed on the Kansas Register of Historic Places and National Register of Historic Places as a splendid example of the Victorian period in American architecture and furnishings. It offers a glimpse into the way the Warkentins lived, with 80 percent of the original furnishings remaining. The museum is open by request from late December through March. Have you gotten your ticket for Murder at the Manor?

The mystery is about a dinner party at Heathcliff Manor, where Lord Heathcliff is hosting a dinner party in honor of his new bride. Before dinner is served, he is killed with a candlestick in the parlor. (we do not see the murder). During a three course dinner, the mystery will be solved. Awards go to best costume, best acting, best detective, best ad-libs. A week before the party, each participant will get an email about what character they will play and costume ideas. They will show up at the house in costume for cocktails and introductions and be given a script to read during the dinner.

Dress code: 1920s
