Good news! You can now purchase a Sharks of Oregon poster year-round at the Hatfield Marine Science Visitor Center. No need to wait for special sale days! We are currently open daily from 10am to 5pm for the summer. ☀️🦈

This poster was created by Natalie Donato, a local artist and researcher at Big Fish Lab.

This Saturday June 20th, we welcome back Cait Goodwin with Hatfield Marine Science Center to our Community Booth! She will be sharing information about Marine Debris at the Newport Farmers Market from 9-1pm.

We have a new Featured Artist in the Visitor Center! Artist Mark Rhea created these beautiful digital drawings, printed them using archival inks and paper, and has displayed them in his own handmade frames. These works will be on display through August. Don't miss the chance to see these beauties in person, and perhaps purchase one for yourself!

Come visit Oregon Sea Grant's Special Projects Coordinator Cait Goodwin at the Newport Farmers Market this Saturday! Cait will be sharing info about our exhibits, coastal hazards, and the new blue whale skeleton!

The Hatfield Marine Science Center is Oregon State University’s (OSU) coastal campus for research, education, and outreach in marine sciences. They are this week's featured guest, and can be found at the Community Outreach booth this Saturday June 6th from 9-1pm at the Newport Farmers Market!

Come visit the new blue whale skeleton brought to you by the Marine Mammal Institute and check out all the other marine mammal skeletons we have on display inside the Visitor Center! Our summer hours start this weekend, we are open daily from 10am to 5pm through Labor Day.

They’re moving pretty fast putting the skeleton of the 78 foot blue whale that washed up in Gold Beach in 2015 together at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport.

If you didn’t make it out to the tidepools today to take advantage of the lowest tides of the year, you can still come see some amazing sea creatures at the Hatfield Marine Science Visitor Center! We are open until 4 pm today and will be open seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm starting Memorial Day through Labor Day. Admission is just $5 and free for those age 4 and under!

Did you know that the octopuses on exhibit at the Hatfield Marine Science Visitor Center are generously donated? We are currently looking for live octopus donations from crabbers, fishermen, divers and others who inadvertently catch these curious animals.

Please note that a state-issued shellfish license is required to make an octopus donation. Please contact 541-272-4207 or 801-556-8220 if you have an octopus to donate!
