After nine weeks of imagining, building, painting, wallpapering, furnishing, and occasionally improvising, our miniature houses have found their home.

History House explores Newburgh’s architecture, preservation, creativity, and community, all at 1:12 scale.

Now on view at the Newburgh Free Library through October 24 as part of Archtober Newburgh 2026.

✨𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗟𝗬 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗗: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝗲

Our Thomas B. Pope exhibition at the Crawford House just got even bigger.

In late September, five signed landscape paintings depicting scenes around Newburgh Bay and the Highlands were added to the exhibition, offering an even richer look at Pope’s artistic legacy and his deep connection to the region.

Known locally for his Hudson River School landscapes, Pope was much more than a painter. He was also a Civil War veteran, fireman, photographer, journalist, liquor store owner, ice yachting enthusiast, practitioner of legerdemain, and an active member of Newburgh’s community.

Come see the newly expanded exhibition and discover the many worlds of Thomas B. Pope.
