🏠 History House: Learn to 3D Print Miniature Furniture!

Join us for a hands on workshop exploring how 3D printing can bring miniature spaces to life. Learn how to create furniture and details for our History House dollhouses inspired by Newburgh’s historic architecture.

History House is open to all ages and adults. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Registration is required for this workshop.

🏘️ What is History House?
Participants can adopt a dollhouse kit and attend workshops to learn how to build, furnish, and decorate a miniature home inspired by Newburgh’s historic architecture. You do not need to adopt a house to attend the workshops.

Completed houses will be featured in an Archtober Newburgh exhibition before being auctioned to support the Newburgh Free Library

A new chapter for Newburgh ✨

The New York Times recently spotlighted a major milestone for our city: Foster Supply Hospitality has broken ground on a $45.9 million adaptive reuse project in downtown Newburgh, bringing the city its first upscale boutique hotel in 133 years.

Led by Sims and Kirsten Foster, the project will breathe new life into the former American Legion, YMCA, and historic Masonic Temple on Grand Street. Plans include a 74 room hotel, restaurants, retail, gathering and conference spaces, and a martini bar overlooking the Hudson River.

With an anticipated opening as early as late 2027, three historic buildings are getting a new purpose while remaining part of Newburgh’s story.

🏠✨ Every house has a story. Learn how to uncover yours!

Join Matthew Thorenz, Local History & Government Documents Librarian at the Newburgh Free Library, for a hands-on workshop exploring how to research the history of your home.

Participants will learn how to trace past owners, explore historic maps, search newspapers and photographs, and uncover property and building records that reveal how a house and the people who lived there have changed over time.

Whether you’re restoring an old home, researching your neighborhood, or just curious about local history, this workshop is a great place to start. 🔎📚

🍸 History, Quakers, capitalism, and cocktails at the Crawford House!

Join us at 7 PM for an evening with Steven Baltsas, Peggy N. Gerry Curatorial Fellow at Preservation Long Island, for his talk, “Thomas Powell: Long Island Quaker/Newburgh Capitalist.”

Thomas Powell, one of Newburgh’s most influential business magnates, spent his childhood on Long Island, where the Quaker faith had deep roots. Through fascinating objects including spinning wheels, watercolor maps, and Dutch-style wardrobes, Baltsas will explore how Powell’s Quaker upbringing shaped his identity as a capitalist and his lasting impact on Newburgh. 🗺️🪑🏛️

🥂 Enjoy a cocktail or mocktail while spending an evening with us at the Crawford House.

Join us for our next History House workshop as we create tiny works of art for our miniature homes. From framed paintings to decorative details, you’ll make pieces that add personality and history to your little space.
