Venturing out and depicting the landscape has a long history here in the Hudson Valley. During the 19th century, landscape painting captured the public imagination and became the first major homegrown artistic movement of a young nation. It’s not difficult to see why: the light, atmosphere and majestic topography continues to be justifiably celebrated.
