The 1911 Indian Big Base Racer 8 Valve, a sight to behold, was factory made by Oscar Hedstrom. Competing against Excelsior and Harley-Davidson with speeds too dangerous for its own good going over 120 mph,soot and smoke on the boardtracks in the motordromes,winning in 1911 and 1912, soon looming behind was Harley-Davidson to conquer all odds, the 1911 was Indian’s Crown of Glory!

Motorcyclepedia Museum's Motorcycle of the week: 1941 Indian Hill Climber.

This 1941 Indian Hillclimber was donated to Motorcyclepedia in 2010 by the late Chuck Myles of Sloansville, New York. An accomplished hillclimbing competitor and highly respected builder and restorer of antique and vintage Indian and Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Myles was well known throughout the motorcycle community. The machine features an extended swingarm frame, gas rear shock, dual Tillotson carburetors, a front disc brake, and paddle tires. These specialized tires proved so effective on sand and other loose surfaces that they were eventually banned from most competition unless specifically permitted. Motorcyclepedia Co-Founder Ted Doering first met Myles while still in high school after purchasing reproduction Indian footboards from him. Their friendship continued for decades, and Myles introduced Ted to the Motorcycle Show in Teaneck, New Jersey, in April 1967. This motorcycle stands as a tribute to both Myles’ craftsmanship and his lifelong passion for the sport of hillclimbing.

Motorcyclepedia is home to the world's largest collection of Indian motorcycles.Tatanka hopes all his wrestling fans come visit Motorcyclepedia in Newburgh , New York this summer.

WWE Legend Tatanka stopped by Motorcyclepedia Museum today a day before his big meet & greet at Wurtsboro Antique Market tomorrow June 14th from 2pm-6pm where he will be signing autographs & taking pictures with his fans! 86 Sullivan St, Wurtsboro, NY

Tatanka was amazed at the collection of motorcycles on display at Motorcyclepedia when he toured the Museum. "What a hidden gem!" "How did they collect so many rare motorcycles! Incredible!" Motorcyclepedia Museum's Motorcycle of the week: Lenny Bauer's 1966 Harley Davidson FLH. From New York to California in less than 48 Hours due to a dare.

On May 19–20, 1969, New York State Trooper and lifelong motorcycle enthusiast Lenny Bauer completed a remarkable cross country ride aboard his customized 1966 Harley-Davidson FLH Shovelhead, traveling from New York to California in just 46 hours and 8 minutes. The journey began as a friendly dare while sharing drinks with Sam Armstrong and friends, who debated whether anyone could make the trip in 48 hours or less. Confident he could, Bauer accepted the challenge. To document the feat, he signed in at a Western Union office in New York before departing and again at a Western Union office in Los Angeles upon arrival. His Shovelhead was specially prepared for the ride, featuring a welded beer keg gas tank with internal baffles fabricated by Joe Shepro of Vail’s Gate New York, a chain oiling system fed by a truck oil filter canister, and a stock engine equipped with an oil cooler. After completing the ride, Bauer flew back to New York, worked a 72 hour shift as a State Trooper, then drove with his wife back to California to retrieve the motorcycle. Returning home and completing the entire adventure within just eight days.

Harley-Davidson commits its racer to be the best of the best! The factory built H-D with motor changes increased its power and speed, there were eight versions of the racer in 1915, the 1915 racer 11k hp, is one of the rarest. Heros would be made riding their Harley Davidsons in the coming years!
