Earlier this month family artists KB Jones returned as an artist in residence to Ghost Ranch, Georgia O’Keeffe’s storied New Mexico home and studio. Swipe through to see a few watercolors and sketches, generously shared by KB to illustrate her process while in new or familiar settings.

We are thrilled to share installation views of family artist Sara Jimenez’s newly commissioned work, the sea breathing us in and out, now on view in Imagining an Archipelago: Art from Cuba, Guam, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Their Diasporas at the Colby College Museum of Art, curated by Jessamine Batario.

Jimenez’s largest ceramic wall mural to date, the work takes the form of an archway inspired by the contour of Manila’s Pasig River. Composed of individually cast clay fragments embedded with portraits of the artist’s family alongside plant and water motifs from Filipino culture, it transforms the militarized architecture of Fort Santiago into a living ecosystem of connection, memory, and renewal.

Transformation has long been central to Jimenez’s practice—reshaping histories of war and violence into spaces of beauty, resilience, and collective care. The exhibition is on view through June 6, 2027 before traveling to additional venues.

The fair will take place at the Javits Center, New York, from September 24 - 27. Extended Family Two | Robert Alan Grand

Robert Alan Grand is a writer and photographer based in Asheville, North Carolina. Working across both mediums, Grand is interested in the quotidian moments that shape everyday life, finding humor and ingenuity in the unexpected. His writing explores contemporary art, craft, and the communities that sustain them—from Appalachian folk schools and contemporary artists across the region to those rebuilding their lives after Hurricane Helene—while his photographs bring that same attention to the people, objects, and places that describe a region from within. Rather than separating writing from photography, Grand approaches each as a different way of looking. Together they offer a fuller understanding of a place and the lives unfolding inside it.

Extended Family | Joe Ballweg

Joe Ballweg’s paintings occupy a space where observation, intuition, and invention continuously fold into one another. His compositions often begin with the close study of shape—drawn from the human body, plant life, scientific imagery, or microscopic organisms—before evolving into pictorial worlds that resist fixed interpretation. Rather than assigning these forms a stable identity, Ballweg allows them to transform as the painting unfolds. A contour might suggest a figure before becoming a landscape, a botanical form, or an abstract gesture. Meaning emerges less through narrative than through the accumulation of visual relationships, inviting viewers to move fluidly between recognition and uncertainty.

Extended Family | Kalina Winters

Kalina Winters paints from observation, though the paintings seem less interested in simply documenting the visible world than in exploring what happens through the act of looking itself. She returns to familiar subjects—flowers, trees, toys, mirrors, and fragments of the everyday—allowing them to shift in unexpected ways as they move from observation to paint. A carnation begins to feel almost like a portrait. A child’s toy quietly suggests a relationship. A cemetery landscape becomes as much about moving through it as it does about death. Rather than prescribing meaning, Winters leaves these associations open, allowing ordinary objects to carry unexpected emotional and psychological weight. The paintings invite viewers to slow down, returning sustained attention to subjects that might otherwise pass unnoticed.

Huge congratulations to family artist Andrea Bergart on the release of her Nike collaboration, featuring the Dunk Low (available now) and the Air Force 1, launching later this month.

Years in the making, the project transforms one of Bergart’s paintings into a wearable object, pairing printed textiles with custom details and removable charms drawn from recurring symbols in her work.

The collaboration feels like a natural extension of Bergart’s practice. Since her Fulbright research in Ghana, textile has remained an important thread in how she thinks about pattern, material, and function. Across painting, sculpture, fashion, and public projects, she continually asks how art can move beyond the gallery and become part of everyday life.

Congratulations, Andrea! We’re excited to see your work continue to reach new audiences in unexpected places.
