We sincerely invite you to join the opening reception of American artist Mia Westerlund Roosen’s first solo exhibition in Taiwan, “Material Matters: Process and Interplay since the 1970s,” at Taipei Nunu Fine Art this Saturday, October 17, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. We are delighted to welcome the artist in person to Taipei for this special occasion.
Emerging in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the artist developed a distinctive artistic language that challenged the conventions of Minimalism. Rather than reducing sculpture to impersonal industrial forms, she explored the tactile qualities of materials, bringing a sense of the human body into concrete and metal.
Spanning sculpture and works on paper, the exhibition presents the artist’s exploration of concrete, lead, steel, charcoal, and oil pastel, revealing how texture, weight, and the traces of the artist’s hand shape her works.
Through her sustained engagement with material and process, the artist challenges the boundaries between sculpture and drawing, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between artistic form, physical matter, and the human body.

誠摯邀請您於本週六10月17日下午3點至5點，於台北 路由藝術，參與美國藝術家米亞・維斯特倫德・羅森（Mia Westerlund Roosen, b. 1942）在台灣的首次個展「材料與過程的交互性——從七十年代開始」（Material Matters: Process and Interplay since the 1970s）開幕活動。藝術家本人將親臨現場，與觀眾分享其創作歷程。
自1960年代末至1970年代初展開創作以來，藝術家逐步發展出獨特的藝術語彙，挑戰極簡主義的既有規範。她不將雕塑簡化為缺乏個人痕跡的工業形式，而是深入探索材料的觸感與特性，將人體的質感與生命感融入混凝土及金屬之中。
本展涵蓋雕塑與紙上作品，呈現藝術家對混凝土、鉛、鋼材、炭筆與油性粉彩等媒材的探索，展現觸感、重量與手部創作痕跡如何形塑作品。透過對材料與創作過程的持續探索，藝術家不斷拓展雕塑與繪畫之間的界線，邀請觀者重新思考藝術形式、物質與人體之間的關係。
