Marie-hélène Sauger Petitjean was born in France and has lived in India for four years, spending three
years in New Delhi and no residing in

Pune. Her passion for sculpture begins in the early 2000s while residing in Shanghai, China. Over those years, an energetic creative movement accompanied China’s decisive opening to the rest of the World. While studying at Shanghai University Fine Arts College, Marie-Hélène was mentored by Xiang Jing and Qu Guanci, two of the most celebrated sculptors in China. In New Delhi she worked at the sculpture department of Triveni Kala Sangam, which is headed by the famous Indian sculptor Saroj Jain. Since arriving in Pune, Marie-Hélène has been in close collaboration with Disphpande Sunil Vasantreo, Head of the sculpture department of Barathi Vidhyapeeth College of Fine Arts. Originally from France, Marie hélène has lived in China, Russia, Belgium , Canada and India, and travelled to Tibet, Japan, Egypt, Malaysia, Australia, Bornéo, Thayland, Indonesia, USA, Europe, and Turkey. Her sculptures are inspired by the many different cultures, events and individuals she was lucky to meet. Marie-Hélène’s major inspiration is drawn by the thrive to portray in her work the emotion and energy that she has experienced over the years.
