Mateo Gallery An awesome little art gallery based in Brooklyn. Mateo Gallery is a unique gallery which supports and shows all art forms, at all levels.

Our values are rooted in sharing beauty through creativity, while provoking discussion and action for progress. The gallery is both for the artist and the viewer; we invite participation from the audience as a way to reflect the ever growing desire to explore and understand the vastness of the human experience. While we benefit the community we also promote our peers; we are artists for other arti

sts. The Mirin Dajo Gallery represents a new generation of emerging artists. We provide an intimate space where artists are free to express themselves, unadulterated. We believe that the spirit behind the work is an integral part of the process and just as important as the final piece. Diversity of methods and media are central to the art we represent. We gladly assist new and seasoned collectors by introducing them to underserved artists, maintaining a focus on talent and potential success. A major goal of the gallery is to transfer the facility to a more ample space to provide a larger exhibition space, art lectures, educational classes, and affordable studio space for artists in need of work space. The Mirin Dajo Gallery is named for the artist and Dutch showman who, during the 1940s, advocated peace and love, proclaiming that materialism begets misery and war. To gain notoriety he pierced his body with swords and daggers attempting to prove his invulnerability, baffling the medical community. His name comes from the Esperanto word "mirindaĵo" meaning wonder. He represents our purpose: to educate and encourage acceptance of one another through the arts.

Mateo Gallery Online Show Open Call: State of the World

This show will be about your view of the world. Consider your thoughts on war, race issues, gender issues, global warming, human trafficking, gun laws, religion, mass media, money, big business, bailouts, world leaders, classism, poverty, health issues, and the list goes on. 4 images maximum.
