Just arrived, new pieces by Mauricio BUITRAGO Colombian artist.

“Inspired by pop artist, editorial photography and the endless world of computer design and animation, Buitrago created a system based on THE PIXEL. Hundreds of symmetrical wood blocks, hand-painted individually with acrylics, then neatly assembled in a elaborate woodworking process to create the factors of illusion and distance in each piece. When viewed up close, you see a modern display of colored blocks but as you question its form, your eyes and mind develop the need for distance between you and the piece, making a distinct image appear.”

Inspiré par le Pop Art, la photographie ainsi que par la conception informatique du design et de l’animation, Mauricio BUITRAGO créé un système basé sur le pixel : des centaines de petits blocs de bois symétriques individuellement peints à la main à l’acrylique, puis soigneusement assemblés afin de créer les facteurs de l'illusion et de la distance dans chaque œuvre, qui nous rappelle le fameux “Lincoln” de Dali.

New pieces by Patrick Rubinstein are available at the gallery.
Rubinstein is a French contemporary artist who started experimenting with "OP ART" (Kinetic Art) when he was a teenager. Fond of art, argentic photography and kinetism, he decided to mix these three techniques. He would cut two images into strips and combine them to create a new image. That composition would then be applied to an accordion like base.
Standing in front of the work, both images superimpose and the picture is double. But from the side, the effect is impressive. Depending on the perspective, only one of the two original images appears.
His 3D concept was born.

On appellera ses œuvres des “Image en relief”.

Artiste contemporain français issu du monde de la mode, il transmet son goût pour l’art optique (connu sous le nom “OP ART”) en trois dimensions.
Tout commence alors que Patrick Rubinstein est encore ado. Il aime l’art, la photo argentique et le cinétisme, et décide alors de faire ces trois techniques en seule et même œuvre : il coupe en lamelles une photo, l’intercale avec une autre, puis colle l’image recomposée sur un support, tente un pliage en accordéon et obtient une œuvre en relief. De face, l’image est double, les deux photos se superposent, mais vue de perspective, l’effet est bluffant. Selon l’angle, il n’apparaît qu’une seule des deux images. Son concept en 3 D est né.

Formerly a fireman in Paris, Christophe Catelain’s artistic perspective was originally influenced by the events of September 11th. He defines himself as a “street photographer”, and through his detailed colorful works, invites the audience on his many travels around the world.
Christophe Catelain is an anti-conformist “au naturel”.

Born in 1951, François VAN DEN BERGHE is a French sculptor who has obviously come to experience the existence of a great creature, the Elephant. He tracks their existence, politically, nationally from birth to death, their habitats and daily lives.
van den berghe has mastered the essence of the elephant in clay and bronze. He combines sand, clay and materials of their daily existences to arrive to a most authentic interpretation of the elephant. After years of research, he now has turned to casting in bronze with a sand- clay patina period.

"L'accès à la plage" _ FRANCOIS VAN DEN BERGHE

Né en 1951,VAN DEN BERGHE est un sculpteur français.
Depuis plusieurs années, il réalise des éléphants en terre cuite au caractère très marqué, incroyables de légèreté traitant des similitudes et des problèmes que ces animaux partagent avec l'Homme ; le droit dexister, la naissance et la mort, l'amour et la dépendance
Après des années de recherche, il vient de réaliser des oeuvres en bronze qui préservent le réalisme et l'esprit narratif de ses pièces. Ce nouveau matériau permet à van den berghe d'aborder de nouveaux sujets, impossibles à formaliser jusqu'à maintenant avec la terre cuite.
