Cheryl Molnar's collage-paintings on both paper and wood panels depict the improbable landscapes of memory as re-imagined environments, as we contend with the impacts of gentrification, displacement and climate change. Combining photographic images from both Long Island and southern California, she merges beaches & cliffs, mountains & forests, iconic mid-century modern architecture and an assortment of flora and fauna to highlight the often chaotic relationship between nature and man-made structures.

Works by Cheryl Molnar will be on display in the Atrium through February 8th.

Join us on Wednesday evening, January 15th, from 6:30-8:00pm for Child’s Play: An Investigation of Violence, Desires, and Taboos Through Art, an expert panel discussion exploring the methods and materiality of addressing challenging topics through artistic expression. For this event, C24 Gallery is partnering with 1014, a New York City based, German cultural organization that hosts talks, performances, and exhibitions encouraging debate on significant global topics.

The Gallery’s current solo exhibition, Child’s Play, by Berlin-based crochet artist Patricia Waller will serve as a jumping-off point for a conversation about the use of unconventional methods to address inconvenient, difficult topics, including violence against children and animals. The artist will be present and joined by Hrag Vartanian (Editor-in-chief and co-founder of Hyperallergic) and Ariane Lignier, (Communications Officer for the UN's Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict), and the panel will be moderated by Sharon Louden (Artist, advocate, community builder and Executive Director of Women's Studio Workshop).

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, and for more details about the exhibitions and the panelists, please click here.

Viktor Popović participated in this year’s edition of the Slavonski Biennale in Osijek, where he was honored with the Ex Aequo Award for his work Untitled "(Archive Museum of Fine Arts)" (2024), created specifically for the biennale. The theme of the biennale, Institute of Invisible: Spaces of Perception, explores art as a lifelong commitment, often pursued without compromise or full understanding of the surrounding environment. This year’s event also marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of artist Julije Knifer and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Gallery (now the Museum) of Fine Arts. The exhibition was inaugurated on November 28, 2024, and will be on display through February 28, 2025.

GROW IT, SHOW IT!A Look at Hair from Diane Arbus to TikTok
Don’t miss Marie Tomanova’s film as part of the exhibition at the Museum Folkwang in Essen, Germany, which runs through January 12.
Curated by Thomas Seelig and Miriam Bettin.

“The exhibition Grow It, Show It! explores the historical, political, and cultural significance of hair, featuring a wide range of photographs, videos, and film clips from both art and fashion, as well as social media. The exhibition demonstrates that hair is much more than just a style choice—it's a carrier of information. How we wear our hair is shaped not only by beauty ideals, but also by political, social, and identity-related influences. It has served as a symbol of power, a spiritual material, and a communicator of social status across cultures and eras.”

“Oracle” by Gabe Barcia-Colombobc is included as part of “La Mayor Emergencia” (The Greatest Emergency) at Círculo de Bellas Artes. The show, curated by Santiago Zabala, presents work by artists who challenge us to recognize the greatest emergencies facing society by investigating them through art. The show argues that “the greatest emergency is the absence of emergency” in today’s world.

“In my opinion, all of social media has become a slot machine of sorts, and we’re only moving closer to a world in which we are all hopeless gamblers pulling a lever in service of the wealthy few who control our algorithms.” — Gabriel Barcia-Colombo

If you're in Madrid, make sure to stop by "La Mayor Emergencia" at the Círculo de Bellas Artes, open until January 12.✨

Now showing in the Atrium: A selection of works by Christian Vincent.

Christian Vincent is a figurative painter living and working in Los Angeles, California. His earlier work, with its rich, dark colors and Chiaroscuro reminiscent of the Renaissance period, could be characterized as American realism, but with a narrative edge. Combining commentary related to the post-industrial world with observations about his personal experience, Vincent’s canvases are immersive, ethereal evocations of the dynamics of conformity and desire. His strong compositions feel melancholic and evoke a sense of isolation, often featuring youthful figures on the verge of adulthood, their innocence confronting the compromises of modern life. His more recent work embodies a soft surrealism, with its exploration of the symbols of culture, history, and mythology combined with the use of repetitive imagery and patterns, along with a more colorful palette.

Marion Fink is known for her life-sized, colorful monotypes depicting young people in various states of connection and disconnection to the elements of the world around them. Her layered works probe the spheres of consciousness we create for ourselves in our own private worlds, an investigation that is surely in step with the personally curated environments many of us inhabit in today’s virtual, online culture.

About C24 Gallery

C24 Gallery is a contemporary, international art gallery established in 2011 in Chelsea, NYC. Led by Director/Curator David C. Terry, former 16-year Director and Curator of Grants/Exhibitions at New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), we have embarked on a mission to include more underrepresented artists and address current political and social issues through dynamic, interactive programming, while diversifying our roster beyond the typical gallery profile and broadening our community outreach efforts. In addition to an ambitious exhibition and international art fair program, the gallery has launched a series of collaborative partnerships with non-profit and artist-run arts institutions, including The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, Field Projects and Berlin-based Aperto Raum. Our calendar of activities has expanded in scope to include panel discussions, performances and other events addressing issues impacting marginalized communities, such as race, gender, immigration and sexuality, in a more active, engaged manner.
