Korean Art Show2013
The Galleries Association of Korea and KIAF (Korea International Art Fair) are pleased to present the Korean Art show Houston 2013, September 2013 in Houston Texas, with the support by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The scale and promotion of this Exhibition will certainly create a synergy effect for the Houston Fine Art Fair (Hampton Expo Group) by inviting 14 representative galleries from Korea as the main guest-country for their third Houston Fine Art Fair. They will join more then 100 international galleries from the US, United Kingdom, France and Germany. The contingent of Korean galleries have also benefited by the sponsoring from the Houston fine art Museum as well as from the Asia Society of Houston. With the help from numerous sponsors and other art shows, the Korean Art Show Houston 2013 will be more dynamic and larger in scale than the previous Korean Art Shows held in New York.
There will be a strong supporting committee of diverse and established collectors to promote, enhanced and interchange between collectors, viewers, artists, and galleries.
Last year’s Korean Art Show high lightened the awareness of Korean contemporary art in New York, and it is expected the Korean Art Show Houston 2013 will continue to establish a solid foothold in the international art scene in Houston.
Another goal of the Korean Art Show 2013 is promoting KIAF, now considered one of the major art fairs in Asia. By setting up a public relations center for KIAF2013 in the exhibition space, we aim to promote and increase international recognition of KIAF and the awareness of KIAF 2013 by the galleries which are participating in the Houston Fine Art fair as well as around the US.
The Korean Art Show 2013 will be held September 19th through September 22th.
The opening reception will take place inside the showroom on September 19th from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. The Korean Art Show 2013 will be one of Houston's most important Asian contemporary exhibition in Houston in September - and one not to be missed!

Korean Art Show2013
사단법인 한국화랑협회는 오는 9월 미국 휴스턴에서 문화체육관광부의 지원을 받아 제4회 ‘Korean Art Show(사업명)’를 선보일 예정이다. 한국 동시대 미술의 우수성을 알리고 국제 무대에서의 적극적인 문화예술교류를 위해 뉴욕에서 진행되어온 본 행사는 3회를 거듭하며 약 30,000명의 관람객을 기록하였으며, The Art Newspaper와 같은 다양한 매체와 비평가들로부터 국가의 이름을 간판으로 한 차별화를 통한 성공적인 행사라는 평가를 얻어왔다. 올해는 전시명을 『K-art show』로 변화를 주어 K-pop으로 세계의 이목이 집중되고 있는 한류 문화 확산에 동참하며, 한국 동시대 미술이 한류의 새로운 돌파구가 되고자 하는 의지을 담았다. 이러한 성공과 한국 미술계의 각고의 노력을 발판으로 올해는 특별히 미국의 대표적인 아트페어 전문 그룹인 햄튼 엑스포 그룹이 주최하는 Houston Fine Art Fair에 메인 주빈국으로 초청되어 미국 휴스턴으로 전시 장소를 옮겨 전시를 치루게 된다.
이번 전시는 한국의 대표적인 갤러리 14개와 미국, 영국, 프랑스등의 블루칩갤러리 100여개가 함께 참가하여 휴스턴 아시안 현대 미술관, 아시아 소사이어티 등의 후원아래 한국 미술의 세계 시장진출의 교두보를 뉴욕뿐만 아니라 미국에서 뉴욕, 로스앤젤레스, 시카고에 이어 4번째로 큰 도시이자 현대 미술의 판매가 3번째로 활발한 휴스턴에서 한국현대 미술의 저력을 보여줄수 있는 계기가 될 것이다.
특히 휴스턴은 미국에서 뉴욕, 산타페에 이어 3번째로 현대미술의 판매가 활발한 도시이며, 특히 아시아미술과 특히 한국 미술에 대한 관심이 지극히 높은 지역으로 손꼽힌다. 연간 200만명 이상이 찾는 남부 최대의 미술관인 휴스턴미술관은 지난 2008년 한국관을 개관하고 한국 작가들의 작품을 구입하여 상설 전시하며 한국 미술에 남다른 애정을 가지고 있어 본 행사에 큰 관심이 모아지고 있다. 특히 행사 기간 중 휴스턴 미술관과 박물관, 아시아 소사이어티 멤버들과 참여 화랑간의 특별 만찬이 예정되어 한국 미술의 국제 무대 진출에 관한 의견을 나눌 수 있는 소중한 기회가 될 전망이다.
Korean Art Show의 또 다른 목적 중 하나로 아시아의 대표적인 아트페어라는 평가를 받고 있는 KIAF의 홍보이다. 이번 코리안아트쇼에서는 휴스턴 파인아트페어와 손을 잡고 휴스턴 파인아트페어에 참가한 갤러리들에 대해 홍보할 예정이며 전시장 내부에 KIAF2013 책자를 마련하여 아직 참여가 미비한 미국을 비롯한 미주지역 갤러리들과 유럽의 갤러리들에게 KIAF를 보다 효과적으로 홍보하고 이들을 적극 유치함으로써 KIAF의 국제적 저변과 인지도를 확대하고자 한다.
Korean Art Show는 한국 미술의 참신함과 독창성을 지속적인 소개를 통해 세계 미술 시장에 적극적으로 알릴 계획이다.
